The project involves the construction of the Palazzo Italia, a building intended for exhibition area, institutional offices, auditorium and delegation rooms, and the regional artifacts of the Cardo, intended for exhibition area and attached services. The Palazzo Italia together with the Cardo artifacts will collectively represent the Italy system at the 2015 Milan Expo.
The Palazzo Italia is the symbolic heart of the entire project, and is intended to remain in the post-Expo period. The building presents a volume of considerable complexity and richness, and the various floors are supported at the ground floor level by a few supports of limited extent.
