Hotel Delfino

Isola Bella (VB)
2019 - 2022

The intervention concerns the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the building called "Albergo Ristorante Delfino," which is part of the larger Isola Bella redevelopment project. The 'building, which used to house a historic hotel and a renowned restaurant, has three floors above ground and features an open courtyard layout overlooking the Lungolago Vittorio Emanuele.

The functional structural and plant upgrading by BMS (which also handled the general construction management and the support for the artistic construction management), was carried out based on the architectural design by Studio Simonetti. The project involved both user and service spaces, bringing them in line with current regulations and the management needs of hospitality facilities.

Among the various interior demolition and reconstruction work for the new distribution of suites and the distribution of new amenities, such as the lounge in the Fireplace Room, the new project also included the redoing of all the plant networks and the construction of a new electrical transformer substation clad externally in painted metal paneling that replicates the mirrored design of the greenhouse present in the upper courtyard.

Inside, the recovery is evident from the choice of many architectural and furnishing elements, such as the recovery of the seeded and stone slab floors, wooden beams and coffered ceilings, and period chandeliers. The original furnishings, such as the furniture in the rooms and the bar, have been preserved or carefully researched in antique stores, giving the environment an authentic, lived-in atmosphere. Even in the exterior, restoration is evident in the Venetian terrace with the refurbishment of the canopy covered with a beaded wooden ceiling and the wrought-iron railings.

On the facades, traces of painted frames, dating back to 1791, were restored, maintaining the historic charm of the structure. The project, supervised by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, favored the use of original materials and the restoration of ancient details, preserving the balance between technological innovation and the enhancement of Isola Bella's artistic and landscape heritage.

The new "Hotel Restaurant Delfino" is distinguished by its vintage charm, enhanced by original materials and restored antique details, contributing to the enhancement and recovery of the island's historical heritage.
