The new Thakher City Project plans to build a new part of the Mekkah city (KSA), mainly composed of hotels.
The architectural design by SOM is based on the excavation of about 9.0 mln of cubic meters of rock to build a new infrastructure network and about 100 hotels dedicated to some of the 3,000,000 of pilgrims that reach the Holy City yearly from all over the world.
The new city will also include a new network for roads and utilities, a 60,000 sqm Mall, a Mosque and other public facilities to accommodate up to 250,000 pilgrims.
